great news from the Jolida "tweaking" front.

As I own the Jolida JD100S reference CD-Player for four weeks now, I'd be delighted to gain some aspects in modifying this player as well. Can you give me some hints where to find modification tests or tipps from users which already performed the exchange of parts.

The Jolida JD-100S is a very new CDP: as there is no AOP in it and as the scheme is very "simple", you should improve yours by changing the original tubes (12AX7, 12AT7) and WIMA Condos by Mundorf/Audyn cap of the same uf and increased VDC...That is to be seen IMHO...


So for 12AX7, you can try cheap JJ/Tesla ECC803S (long plate) and Mullard 12AT7/6201/CV4024...

Actually, the best "12AX7" for the Jolida JD-100A/H is a 12AT7:
Mullard CV4024/12AT7WA or 12AT7/6201
RCA 12AT7.

I did allready exchange the tubes for matched pairs of yugoslavian EI GOLD 12AX7 and 12AU7. Sound increased dramatically due to this easy replace measure, yet I am a little bit afraid to swop the condensators in it.

So , you recommend replacing those on 250VDC running 8 JIMSON MKP10 3,3 microF, +/-5% condensators by equivalent ones working with 400 VDC from Mundorf???

As I am not really familiar with electronic devices, I am not sure whether this replacement is justified.

Could someone help me out here!

Yes, you can change your condos if you respect the 3,3microF...
For example, On Cayin CDT-17A of the french forum, flom changed a 2,2microF WIMA 250VDC for a Mundorf 2,2microF 1200VDC(*).
On my Jolida JD-100H, my FOUR Jimson 3,3microF 250VDC have been changed by FOUR Audyn Cap Plus 3,3microF 800VDC...Some photos next week.
The problem actually is obstruction caused by big condos...

So, if your socket is a 12AU7's one, get RCA/Mullard 12AU7.

I've no doubt that Lua Apassionato/DOGE is different from the JD100s Internally they are too different. Just focussing on the tubes, the Lua has 6 and the Jolida has 4.

BTW: I heared a couple of times that Lua Amps. are manufactured at Jolida..............
Can you confirm that?

NOTICE:
- The OPA2134 of TEXAS INSTRUMENT has been changed for AD8066 of ANALOG DEVICES
- All capacitors have been changed for Black Gate and Styroflex, except the condos of tubes output: the 4 x Jimson 3,3uF 250VDC have been changed for 4 x Audyn Cap plus 3,3uF 800VDC - no difference with Mundorf at listening -.
- the implementation of the output Tubes PCB has been translated 35mm from the back to the front. Two holes have been made for the translation: it's very easy to do.
- the two original 12AX7EH have been changed for two Mullard 6201/12AT7WA Gold pins: they are similar to Mullard CV4024 MP Cryo but better by far than to the RCA 5751! These RCA are best tubes I have never tried in 12AX7/5751 category but less good than these 12AT7!!!
- I insist: you must find Cryo Matched Pair to get an amazing improvement of your CDP! It's quite different to a not matched pair nor a not cryo!
- The Burr-Brown PCM1732U to decode HDCD is still the same: it has not be changed.
- This card can NOT replace the one on a Jolida JD-100A.

To resume, I have got two of these output tubes PCB: I can sell one of them if it is allowed by the forum...

PS:
- I have never tried a Sylavania MP 6201/12AT7 Gold box, but I have been told it was excellent as well.
- I read the 6201 of Mullard were less good than CV4024, I can tell you that's not true! The CV4024 Cryo Matched Pair is closed to 6201 but much better by far than the not Cryo MP CV4024! which is better than RCA 5751 and better than all of 12AX7/5751 I have ever tried...

results:
very strong bass and details in the high frequency. With AD8066, the sound message is more clear and bass more detailed and a better wide stage...You can hear details tht i could not before tweaking: and very fluid, amazing!

I hope I have helped some Jolidas'owners... just try the tubes and then if you want to, I can refurb you my second output tubes PCB since I need just one!
