it seems that somebody

Unfortunately I can not get the Doge.
Yes it is indeed very good but too ugly for many persons taste.
Next week consonance will release the cd 2.2 mkII here in scandinavia and maybe this will also bee the new eu version. Same D/A as Droplet
and same jitter clock as 2.2mkIII (only sold here in scandinavia since 7 months as test market) Balanced output, digital volyme regulator, choke added in the power supply. The scandinavian distributor has promised me to send me a review sample (for the swedish hifi forum) and I will test this new machine to see how it does compared to Droplet.
The 2.2 mkIII didn't match the LUA in sound quality eventhogh it is a good cd player. There was a bigger step downwards from the LUA to the the 2.2 mkIII than upwards from LUA to Droplet. The differences are more evedient in a real good setup of course.

Thank you for your post PERKA which is very instructive.
To be honest, if I had read it before I will certainly not have ordered the capacitors.
I didn't think that it could be so difficult to tweak this CDP.
I'll bring it to a professional with a copy of your post hoping that he reads english. If not I send it to you

I can cheer you up Stentor in saying that the tweak is absolutely worth it!
I have the first listening impressions
If you skip the top metal cover (I'm not sure how much this actually improves the sound) and don't desolder the RCA wires. Instead, turn the circuit bord inside the machine when you are working, it is not that difficult.
It is very important to fully remove the soldering from the ex wima cap. holes! If you can find a way to do this, you don't risk to damage the thin copper layer in squeezing down the mundorf legs.

After 22 hours burning in of the Doge 6201 with the 8 x mundorf supremes.
And.....
The presentation is much more airy!! A new sound is born.
This is a real improvement of the Lua Apassionato/Doge!!!
Clearly hearable improvement. The sound is also a bit softer, or would I say more analogue.
Above all, more delicate. This is the biggest improvement except for the addition of more air.
The bass is also changed. It is a bit less boomy on some recordings.
Some harsh cds are more listenable.
Will write more when it has run another 50 hours!!

Yes, let them burn some 50 to 100 hours to stabilize them: but after 30 hours burning, you should not listen to great improvement.
Best regards,
teiki arii.
PS: what about JJ/Tesla ECC803S and Mullard CV4024, happy?

But the consonnance still better by far than the Lua Appassionnato/Doge 6201? Any photos of the tweaked "animal"?
Best regards,

PS: the power cords must be at least two meters long...
I can e-mail you the pdf file for making it...in french, but I know that german people know how to translate it properly!!!!
Siezien is the real name of the man who made and finalized these power cords. He is from Belgium, a very nice man and shall be helping you to do it if you answer him!!! But I am not sure he can speak german...

I prefer Droplet.
But the differences are not so obvious on smaller speakers.
Trying to get a camera.

This Droplet must be terrific: I do not understand why french people found it so bad...Did you try it compared to a tweaked mundorf capacitors Cayin CDT-17A CCa siemens OPA627/AD843???

Droplet comes in two versions.
The EU version with Philips transport and CS4396 DAC
(the one I tried).
Us version is Sony transport and CS4398 DAC. This version also
have digital volyme control (digital preamp).
You also you must connect it balanced to get the sound right.
If you buy it directly from China I don't know which version you get?
I have heared that the US version is not as good sounding as the EU, but I can not confirm this.
I really hope you get the opportunity to try one yourself. Reading opinions (also like mine) on the internet can sometimes be very misleading!
